Income is used in the profit and loss sections.

Each time you add a payment to an invoice (when a member pays an invoice) the system will create a corresponding income record in the background.

When you reconcile your bank statement, what you are doing is matching the transactions on the statement to the income (and expenses) in the system so that the two "match up".
